WordPress upgrades

Keeping WordPress up to date is one of the most effective ways to increase the security of your website. And you get access to all the newest features and bugfixes.

We aim to upgrade WordPress core and all your plugins within five working days of a new release, and within three working days for critical security releases. In practice, most upgrades are performed within 1-2 working days.

Daily offsite backups

All your website’s files and databases are securely backed up every single night, seven days a week, 365 days a year. All while you’re tucked up under your duvet.

Backups are transmitted over a secure encrypted connection to a separate data centre in another part of the UK for maximum resilience. This means that in the case of a critical emergency, we can restore your website quickly from the latest and safest backup.

Rocket speed

Speed is a crucial ranking factor used by search engines. No matter how good your content is, if your website is slow you will be penalised. Not only that, but your visitors won’t hang around waiting for your website to load.

Our servers are set up to be blazing fast, but that’s still not enough for us. Depending on your website’s specific requirements, we’ll either set up ‘Nginx page caching’, or install the WP Rocket premium caching plugin and configure it to eek out every last drop of speed.

Uptime monitoring

We set up monitors that notify us should your site be unavailable, so we can get on the case as soon as humanly possible to find out what’s happened.

We will investigate as quickly as possible within normal office hours (and very often out of hours too). If the issue is related to the hosting server or immediate network, we will fix it as soon as possible. If it’s caused by external factors beyond our control, such as hacking, errors on the site, user error, etc., then we will advise what is involved and the estimated cost of fixing it.

SSL certificates

We install and set up an SSL certificate so that all traffic to and from your website is encrypted for maximum security.

Your website visitors will see a padlock icon in their browser to reassure them that your website is secure. This is especially critical for any site where personal data is being stored and transmitted, to protect your password when logging into WordPress, and for eCommerce websites where payments are being processed.

Domain names

Domain names are essential, but fiddly to manage and way too easy to forget to renew. We register, configure, maintain and renew .co.uk domain names for free (and others for a small charge). You are always the legal owner, and Lumpy Lemon is the technical and billing contact.

If you already have a domain name, you can choose to transfer it to us, we’ll handle the migration and configuration at no charge. You’ll never have to think about domain names again.
